Silence and tears.

What we all need in a time such as this:

When suddenly you realize…

            …the strength in someone you thought weak

            …the determination when you thought they gave up

            …the need when you thought they had everything

…the pain when you saw only a smile.

And that’s when you understand…

            …the drinking

            …the drugs

            …the sex

There is no excuse but you understand.

You see the whole picture; the whole person.

It all makes sense…

…and you wish you had been there all along

…and you wonder if it could have been different

…and you hope you can help now

…and as the shock sinks in all you can say is

“I’m here for you”
